The Twentieth-Century Humanist Critics revisits the work and place of eight scholars roughly contemporary with Anglo-American New Criticism: Leo Spitzer, Ernst Robert Curtius, Erich Auerbach, Albert B矇guin, Jean Rousset, C.S. Lewis, F.O. Matthiessen, and Northrop Frye. William Calin first considers the achievements of each critic, examining his methodology and basic presuppositions as well as the critiques marshalled against him. Calin explores their relation to history, to canon-formation, and to our current theoretical debates. He then goes on to show how all eight form a current in the history of criticism related to both humanism and modernism.

中華隊世界12強11日對上義大利，義大利先發投手帕內拉提(Luca Panerati)是郭嚴文旅美時期在新人聯盟的隊友，郭嚴文說，因為在同一隊，沒有打過他的球，但守備時候感覺他的節奏蠻快的、控球很好，中華隊有看過他的投球影片，所以「不需要特別提點。

郭嚴文2008年和2009年旅美時期曾和帕內拉提同隊，郭嚴文表示，印象中他投球節奏蠻快的，控球很準，但因為是同隊，也沒打過他的球，投球姿勢是一般投手的出手。

中華隊9日首戰敗給荷蘭，全隊維持好氣氛，郭嚴文說，大家的氣氛比上一場更好，可能開幕戰比較緊繃，做操時候有感覺到之前比較安靜，現在大家的臉上笑容變多了。

郭嚴文在國際賽維持穩定的打擊，他表示，自己的打擊不太受影響，可能守備反而比較令人擔心。中華對戰義大利棒次有調整，郭嚴文說，大家在母隊幾乎都是中心打者，在中華隊不管打哪個棒次都一樣，各國做的情蒐都蠻準確，也是針對打者個人，不會因為棒次不同而有不同。

而中華隊陣中同為南英商工畢業的隊友林益全今天生日，郭嚴文說，希望拿下勝利，當作林益全的生日禮物。
